Sunbelt Vipre Antivirus Premium security software

The web is crawling with malware, so a combined firewall and antivirus program that acts as a barrier between your PC and the net stopping any malware from accessing the machine, is a must-have for all internet users.

Sunbelt Software has launched Vipre Antivirus Premium 4.0, an antivirus program that features a two-way firewall, similar to other offerings from Bullgaurd and Webroot.

The firewall, which runs on both 32 and 64bit versions of Windows, monitors outgoing traffic from the PC to stop the user acidentially distributing any malware themselves.

However, they are required to 'train' the firewall as to which outbound traffic is legitimate.

Vipre Antivirus 4.0 Premium features a web-filtering module that protects against malicious web addresses and blocks third-party adverts and scripts.

The software also prevents access to known phishing sites and allows users to block cookies from wesbites.

The security software identifies malware using signatures detection and heuristics.

As a final resort, the software automatically implements MX-V (Malware Executable Virtulisation) technology.

This runs the program in a simulated Windows environemnt and analyses how it behaves to identify whether it is malware or legitimate.

"The Premium edition is notable in that we didn't set out to build a suite with 'everything but the kitchen sink'. Instead, we focused on the task of providing outstanding desktop anti-malware protection, without any compromises in performance," said Alex Eckelberry, CEO of Sunbelt Software.

Vipre has also released an updated version of its antivirus and antispyware software. Vipre Antivirus 4.0 now includes a boot cleaner, a rootkit scanner and supports 64bit operating systems.

Vipre Antivirus 4.0 Premium costs £29.95 for a single annual licence, £39.95 for a two PC year licence or £49.95 for an unlimited PC licence.

Meanwhile, Vipre Antivirus 4,0 is priced at £19.95 for a single annual licence, £29.95 for a two PC year licence or £39.95 for an unlimited PC licence.

Both security programs can be downloaded direct from Sunbelt Software now. Amazon and PC World will stock the software later in the year.
