Serif Page Plus X3 software

Serif has released PagePlus X3, an updated version of its desktop publishing program. The £79 DTP package is certified for use with Windows Vista PCs.

For the first time, Serif Page Plus now includes support for HD Photo, the new name for Microsoft's native photo editor Windows Media Photo.

Among the new features users are a dedicated logo designer which enables the creation of high-impact headlines. Special effects features include the ability to remove backgrounds from photographs to either make the subject stand out or to be replaced with another background. Serif Page Plus X3 can also reproduce shiny surfaces - a trick that can be used to make a page look as though it contains 3D elements.

The upgraded desktop publishing program also offers a number of presets designed to allow users to create realistic glass and metal surface textures and a new duplex printing wizard, the offers the ability to print double-sided documents on regular printers.

PagePlus X3 also features more than 1,500 fresh, attractive new designs among its 2,500
templates, logos and graphics as well as a revamped user interface that is Windows Vista-compliant.

PDF (portable document format) support has also been improved, with PDF documents imported from any source able to be opened, edited, resized, resaved and added to. They can then be shared or exported as press-ready files in PDF/X-1a format.

"Serif is delighted to launch PagePlus X3 after a massive development effort to improve this popular publishing powerhouse," said Serif MD Gary Bates.

PagePlus X3 is priced at £79.99 and available from www.serif.com.

Existing PagePlus users will be able to upgrade their current version and should contact Serif on 0800 376 7070 for prices.
