Nuance PDF Converter 5 Professional software

Nuance has launched a professional version of its Nuance PDF Converter 5 Professional software. It will cost £100 including VAT.

Rather than simply being able to read PDFs (portable document files) in the way Adobe's free Reader software can, Nuance's PDF Converter 5 is able to create PDFs from scratch and to turn other electronic documents into PDF format. This puts it up against Adobe's Reader product which is also used to create and edit PDF files.

Nuance describes Nuance PDF Converter 5 Professional as "a no-compromise PDF solution at a price 50 percent cheaper than other alternatives currently available".

The software combines PDF with the XML Paper Specification (XPS) document format so users can have a single application to install and manage for creating, printing and editing both ‘same as paper’ formats.

Other functions of Nuance PDF Converter Professional 5 include turning individual email messages or complete folders of emails into PDF documents or splitting and re-assembling files with large number of pages into smaller PDF documents.

Users will also be able to compare and detect differences in similar PDF files and merging any sticky-notes and annotations made on a file distributed for comment, into one master file.

PDF Converter Professional 5 costs £99.99 inc. VAT and is available from www.nuance.com.
