Hitachi Ultrastar C10K147 hard drive

Hitachi today announced that it has shipped the small form factor Ultrastar C10K147 hard drive. The 10,000 RPM Ultrastar C10K147 hard drive offers up to 147GB of capacity with a 3Gbps Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) interface.

The transition to small form factor hard drives from the traditional 3.5in drives is expected to take hold in 2007. The Ultrastar C10K147 hard drive provides a 50 percent smaller foot print and a 40 percent reduction in z-height over traditional enterprise hard drives.

It can deliver 10,000RPM spin speed, high-speed SAS interface and 16MB data buffer.
