McAfee Internet Security 2009 software

McAfee has launched new 2009 versions of its Total Protection, Internet Security and VirusScan Plus security software.

Each of the 2009 security software suites includes McAfee's Active Protection technology, which quickly identifies and blocks malware. The programs also come with McAfee SECURE, which helps protect consumers when buying online. A trustmark is displayed next to the ratings of various websites in the McAfee Site Advisor function. To qualify, sites must successfully pass daily testing of more than 10,000 threats, indicating they are safe from credit card fraud.

McAfee says it has simplified the setup for each of its three 2009 products. This, it hopes, will encourage more users to protect their PCs with security software. Rather than use up valuable system resources scanning a PC, the McAfee Quick Scan function performs a less detailed check and scans only the parts of the computer that are most often attacked. A full system scan can be initiated by the user at any time.

McAfee Internet Security also features an improved anti-spam protection and an age-appropriate searching feature that automatically sets the proper content filtering levels of popular search engines.

In addition to these features, customers who buy McAfee Total Protection get a Network Monitoring tool that alerts them should someone attempt to connect to their home network. McAfee Total Protection also includes Anti-Theft File and Data Protection. This last feature is offered as a free download. It can be used as a secure uploading abd encrypting tool. Using it, you drag and drop sensitive files into 'digital' vaults on the PC or a USB flash drive. The Data Protection tool encrypts the vaults, which are password-protected.

Available now from McAfee, Internet Security 2009 is priced at £44.99 while Total Protection 2009 costs £59.99 for a three PC license and VirusScan Plus 2009 costs £39.99 for a one-year subscription.
