Ricoh has announced details of a new 12Mp compact digital camera. The Ricoh GX200 is the successor to the Caplio GX100 compact digital camera which Ricoh launched last year.

The 12Mp camera inherits the 24-to-72 mm wide-angle optical zoom lens that featured on the GX100, but also benefits new image processing engine Smooth Imaging Engine III to dramatically reduce noise.

The 25mm thick GX200 also features a wide-viewing angle 2.7in display, a number of different shooting modes and an optional removable tilting electronic viewfinder.

The Caplio X200, which will be available from July, comes bundled with rechargeable lithium ion battery, battery charger, AV cable, USB cable, CD-ROM, strap, and lens cap and costs £349.99. It is also available packaged with the tilting viewfinder in the VF kit for £399.99.
