Genius is bringing the humble desk photo into the digital age with the launch of a 1.5in digital photo frame that doubles as a clock and alarm.
The Genius DPF-151 has a flip-out stand that does duty as a lid when the unit is not in use.
In common with other other digital photo frames we’ve seen, the Genius’ micro screen can show either a single static image or cycle through a collection of images. Photos for your mini slideshow can first be compressed on your PC using the photo manager software Genius supplies so you can get more of your snaps on to the 182g device.
Genius says the DPF-151 will work in photo display mode for up to three hours between charges, though we’re hoping that doesn’t mean we can only nod off for a couple of hours and still expect its built-in alarm clock to wake us from a much-needed power nap in time for that critical meeting. The clock and alarm clock are apparently separate functions from the digital photo display itself, however. A calendar function is also included.
We imagine lonesome business travellers taking photos of their beloved spouse and kids with them and placing this Genius photo viewer next to them as they type up a report on their laptop.

And for those who really can’t bear to be without a photo of their one true love by their side, Genius sells yet smaller digital photo frames such as the 1in square DPF-102K.
