Panasonic has confirmed the release of its 12-35mm f/2.8 X camera lens. The Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 'X' lens price will be around £1,000 and it will be available from the end of June.

The first Micro Four Thirds zoom lens to offer a constant aperture of f/2.8, Panasonic announced the development of the lens earlier this year. The Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 'X' lens will be compatible with Panasonic's G range, as well as the Olympus PEN and OM-D range.

The Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 'X' lens offers an equivalent of 24-70mm in 35mm terms. It features a standard zoom operation and Power Optical Image Stablisation. According to Panasonic the Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 'X' lens is water- and dustproof.

The lens is manufactured in Japan at Panasonic's Yamagata factory.
