Swann HelmetCam Freestyle HD shoots to thrill

Snag 1080p HD video on the slopes

Swann has launched a helmet camera that allows outdoor sports fans to capture footage of their daring exploits (or simply the pretty landscape in which they explore). Described as its first high definition wearable video camera, Swann Freestyle HD camcorder is able to capture 1920x1080p video footage at 30 frames per second. A 3x digital zoom helps close in on the action.

The Swann Freestyle HD is waterproof to a depth of 20 metres and comes with a wireless remote control so that the camcorder can be placed in one location and recording can be triggered from another. The tripod-mountable camera has a detachable 4in LCD that can be used to check whether a shot has been successfully captured. The Freestyle’s lithium-ion battery is powerful enough to capture up to 2.5 hours of video between charges.

For shooting footage of wildlife or other stealth shots, Swann has fitted a laser that shows recording is in progress, rather than a distracting red LED. Bracket mounts, the detachable screen and a wall charger are being bundled with the £279 Swann HelmetCam Freestyle HD when bought from Snow+Rock.
