Panasonic Lumix GF2 camera

Panasonic is set to start selling a new compact SLR digital camera from late January. The Panasonic Lumix GF2 is a new model in its popular MicroFourThirds range of mirrorless cameras with interchangeable lenses. The Lumix GF2 will be a 12.1Mp camera costing £739 with a 14-42mm lens kit.

MicroFourThirds cameras with their compact dimensions and interchangeable lenses are now firmly established. Panasonic has launched more micro 4/3 cameras than anyone else and is now trying to beat rival manufacturers in this popular camera category with a model that is noticeably smaller.

The Lumix GF2 is a full 19 percent smaller than last year’s GF1, for example. It has a 3in touchscreen menu and offers full 1080i AVCHD video capture that has its own dedicated selection button. There’s no top-mounted jog dial, however, so it’s a good job early reports suggest the onscreen menu is aptly responsive and the interface fast.
