Casio Exilim EX-Z90, at IFA 09

Casio Exilim EX-Z90Casio used the IFA show in Berlin to add several cameras to its Exilim line. The cheapest of these is the Casio EX-Z90, a fun-focused 12.1Mp model that costs 150 euros and allows you to add animations to your photos.

The EX-Z90 features a 3x optical zoom, a 2.7in LCD screen and a claimed battery life of 230 shots. It comes in six colours: black, silver, pink, light pink, blue and gold.

But the intriguing selling point is a feature called Dynamic Photo. This allows you to take a snap, then superimpose a simple animation - we were shown a roaring dinosaur and some flowers that moved around and changed colour - over some or all of the picture. So the dinosaur can sit on your boss's shoulder. Or the flowers can appear in your hand as part of a cheesy e-card sent on your anniversary.

Users can come up with their own animations, based on clips they shoot, although the process seemed a little tricky in our hands-on preview. There are some 150 pre-made sample animations available to customers.
