Sony Cyber-shot W180 digital camera

Sony Cyber-shot W180 camera thumbnail viewSony has launched a compact digital camera it says will be ideal for partylovers and for snapping fun family days out. The Sony Cyber-shot W180 has a 10.1Mp CCD sensor and a top ISO sensitivity of 3,200.

The Cyber-shot W180 comes in a choice of silver, red or black and has a 3x optical zoom that can be boosted using the 17x magnification using the digital Smart Zoom.

Sony provides seven distinct scene modes, automatically recognises up to eight people's faces in a shot and plus smile shutter that only triggers the shutter release if the subjects in the frame are beaming. The camera has 2.8in LCD for image composition while a SteadyShot function helps reduce photo blur.

A dedicated switch enables the photographer to switch from camera mode to video recording or playback. Picture Motion Browser 4.2.1 software is provided to enable PC users to browse and share the photos and video clips they've taken and to easily upload them to YouTube, Picasa or another photo or video-sharing website.

Sony describes the Cyber-shot W180 as "the perfect no-fuss choice for anyone who needs to capture family moments, holidays and nights out".

The Sony Cyber-shot W180 will go onsale in the UK in early July. Pricing has not yet been announced.
