Samsung launches S760 and S860 budget cameras

Samsung is boosting the depth of its entrylevel digital camera line-up with two new colourful models. The Samsung S760 is a 7Mp (megapixel) compact camera with a 3x optical zoom and a 2.4in LCD display. It will go onsale in January 2008 with a recommended retaial price of £80 including VAT.

The Samsung S760 will be available in a choice of baby blue or powder pink as well as silver or black.

A price has yet to be determined for the other new Samsung model. The Samsung S860 will be an 8Mp compact digital camera. Like the S760, it will have a 3x optical zoom, 2.4in screen and ‘intelligent’ face-recognition feature. This, says Samsung, detects the subject’s face and automatically adjusts the autofocus and auto-exposure.

Both the Samsung S760 and the Samsung S860 have built-in image stabliser features and come with 11 preset scene modes. Sensitivity levels up to an ISO rating of 1,000 and the option to take self-portraits are also included.
