Fujifilm FinePix F50fd

Fujifilm has announced the FinePix F50fd, the successor to the F31fd, which includes new features such as Face Detection 2.0 and dual image stabilisation to avoid camera shake. The 12Mp (megapixel) F50fd also offers 3.0x optical zoom and is compatible with a wide range of memory cards such as Dual xD-Picture Card. Its slim metal body is only 22.8mm thick, making it highly portable, while it still features a wide-view, high-resolution 2.7in LCD screen.

Not only is it stylish and compact, it offers great performance even in challenging situations such as low-light conditions. High-resolution capture is made possible thanks to the newly developed sensor that enhances the efficiency each pixels gathers light and its enhanced two-stage noise reduction system keeps noise to a minimum without losing detail. The camera's Natural Light plus Flash mode takes two photos in quick succession, one with and one without flash, and displays them side by side for quick and convenient comparison.

Fujifilm has gone one step further with its face detection feature as it can lock on to subjects face's even if they are at angle. Red eye is also automatically corrected by the camera; saving you time doing it in an editing application.

The F50fd will be available in early September and pricing will be announced near the launch date.
