Pentax K100D Super

Pentax UK today launches the Pentax K100D Super - a digital SLR camera.

Based on the popular Pentax K100D, Pentax reckons the K100D Super's killer feature is an an innovative dust removal system that, er, keeps dust off the CCD (charge-coupled device) surface.

The Pentax K100D Super also incorporates the a shake reduction system to produce sharp, blur-free images. At first glance, however, there doesn't seem to be any face-recognition technology.

The K100D Super’s auto-focus system has 11 sensor points (with nine cross-type sensors in the middle) to automatically capture off centre subjects in crisp focus.

Pentax says: "By combining 6.1 effective megapixels with a high-performance imaging engine and advanced image-processing technologies, the K100D Super is designed to produce beautiful true-to-life images that are rich in gradation.

"In addition, it boasts a choice of two finishing touches of “natural” or “bright” to create a distinctive atmosphere and an Auto Picture mode for effortless point and shoot photography."

So there. The Pentax K100D Super takes conventional SD cards, but no price has yet been announced. We'll review it soon. Below is a picture of the Pentax K100D - without the super bit.
