Available in either 320 or 500GB capacities, the new-look eGo hard drive is encased in a 16mm thick anodised aluminium shell, which Iomega says is designed for "superior ruggedness". The drive also features Iomega's Drop Guard function which ensures data stored on it remains secure, even if the drive is dropped from heights of up to 51 inches.
It also features a USB 2.0 port and comes bundled with Iomega QuikProtect backup software and 2GB of free online storage space from MozyHome.
The hard drives are available in 320GN or 500GB capacities and in red, blue or silver. A black version that comes with Drop Guard Xtreme technology to protect the drive from drops of up to 2.1m will be made available in June.
"The new Iomega eGo Portable Hard Drives are the perfect companions for home users and professionals that want to take their files anywhere with the assurance of a superior rugged portable drive that has style to spare and a compact form with flair," said Jonathan Huberman, president of Iomega.
The 320GB drives cost £79.99 while the 500GB versions are priced at £99.99. All four eGo hard drives will be available direct from Iomega.
