Acer launches world's first 27in full-HD 3D monitor

Acer HN274H supports nVidia 3D Vision

Acer has launched an innovative new monitor, which it claims is the world’s first 27in full-HD (1920x1080-pixel) 3D screen. An integrated infrared emitter lets the HN274H communicate with the supplied pair of nVidia 3D glasses, or a set-top box or Blu-ray player hooked up via HDMI.

Its highly sophisticated design should look great in a living room or office, with touch-sensitive controls, sleek looks and a stylish teardrop-shaped power key.

Sharp picture quality is available from this widescreen (16:9) monitor, with a claimed contrast ratio of 100,000,000:1 (dynamic, via Acer Adaptive Contrast Management). Games and movies are rendered realistically, thanks to the Acer's 120Hz refresh rate and 2ms response time.

The HN274H works with nVidia's 3D Vision technology, and Acer supplies a pair of active shutter 3D glasses. Combined with the IR emitter, this allows entertainment to be enjoyed at its full potential. Multiple pairs of glasses can be used simultaneously, helping the HN247H to simulate a cinema experience and allowing movies to be enjoyed by several onlookers at once.

In developing the HN274H, Acer conducted technological and psychological studies into the most sought-after features of image performance. Acer eColor Management was the result, which provides optimised display modes for common usage scenarios. This feature lets you to tweak the brightness, saturation and contrast and more, to get exactly the visual you want.

The HN274H is apart of Acer’s EcoDisplay range. It's mercury-free and manufactured from recyclable materials. Two mercury-free LED backlights replace the typical four-lamp design, making the HN274H up to 68 percent more power-efficient. This screen delivers great performance, while meeting industry (RoHS) and Energy Star requirements.

The Acer HN274H comes with a two-year collect-and-return warranty, and will be available from May with a £499 inc VAT RRP.
