Buffalo 1TB DriveStation HD-HXU3

Buffalo 1TB DriveStation HD-HXU3Back in October, Buffalo Technology announced that it would be one of the first to market a USB 3.0 device. It promptly unveiled plans to start selling its DriveStation range of USB 3.0 external hard drives in Japan within weeks.

Now the DriveStation USB 3.0 has come to the UK and is being sold by online retailers including Dabs.com and Play.com. A 1TB model costs £99.

Offering data transfer speeds of up to 130Mbps (megabits per second), outstripping the current generation of USB drives by a factor of three.

This year is expected to see a slew of USB 3.0 devices launch, with capacious external drives such as Buffalo's the first to arrive. Available in capacities from 500GB to 1.5TB, the Buffalo DriveStation HD-HXU3 is a 3.5in drive designed for speedier backups. It will work with USB 2.0 drives and is both Windows and Mac-compatible.
