Buffalo MiniStation TurboUSB 500GB backup drive

Buffalo is launching a half-terabyte external backup drive. The Buffalo MiniStation TurboUSB portable 500GB hard drive will cost just over £200 plus VAT.

The Buffalo HD-PS500U2 is a 2.5in hard drive with a tough armoured outer case that should make it less susceptible to knocks and general abuse. The 500GB drive is compatible with all Windows operating systems and with Mac OS X.

Buffalo says the MiniStation also has a shock-absorbent internal design. It also claims the 500GB MiniStation's TurboUSB technology offers “super-fast file transfer times”.

The HD-PS500U2 is bundled with Memeo AutoBackup software, supports the Max OS X Leopard backup program Time Machine and Secure Lock Ware Encryption software for Windows.

The Buffalo MiniStation TurboUSB 500GB drive is backed by a two-year warranty, is available from www.dabs.com and is expected to be priced at £207 excluding VAT.
