First look: HP Photosmart A826 photo printer

Last night I had a play with the HP Photosmart A826 Home Photo Centre. A cool-looking and petite photo printer, the HP Photosmart A826's standout feature is its 7in colour touchscreen. UPDATE: for a full review of the HP Photosmart A826 Home Photo Centre, click here.

This means that - like the HP Photosmart R937 8Mp compact camera - the HP Photosmart A826 Home Photo Centre is a viable digital display for your snaps. You could use it as a digital photo frame for your 6x4in snaps, and it wouldn't look out of place in the front room. Well, it wouldn't look as out of place as most printers.

Also like the HP Photosmart R937 8Mp compact camera, the HP Photosmart A826 Home Photo Centre contains HP's photo-editing software accessible through the touchscreen interface. I don't imagine that Adobe is losing sleep over Photoshop's future, and it's a bit gimmicky - the slimming effect in particular - but for people who simply want to ditch red-eye and add captions to pics, it'll be a boon. My mum, for instance.

Oh, and the HP Photosmart A826 Home Photo Centre is Bluetooth-enabled.

The HP Photosmart A826 Home Photo Centre will be available this month, and will cos £199 inc VAT. We don't yet know about media and consumables pricing.
