Vodafone has announced yet another own-brand smartphone, this time a phablet to take on devices like the LG G4 and iPhone 6 Plus with an 'unbeatable' price. Here's what you need to know about the Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 including release date, price and specs. See also: Best phones of 2015.

Dee Kaul, Director - Terminals UK and Ireland said: "We've sold over 70 million Vodafone branded devices across the world since we started offering them in 2006. They've proved a huge success and I expect the Smart Ultra 6 will be another great addition.  This is the most premium 4G device we've launched and one that I think customers will be very excited about due to its strong feature set, competitive price point and great design, it looks fantastic!"

Vodafone Smart Ultra 6: Release date and price

It seems the mobile networks can be better at launching new devices than the manufacturers themselves sometimes. Like the EE Harrier Tab, the Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 is available straight away, although you'll have to wait until July if you want the silver model instead of Anthracite.

That 'unbeatable' price is £125 which is stunningly cheap when you take a look at what you're getting for your money (see below). That's the pay as you go price, of course, but you can get it on a contract for £17 per month which gets you 500 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data.

Customers who opt for a £30 or £40 Big Value Bundle will also receive free access to a choice of Spotify Premium, Sky Sports Mobile TV or a Sky Now TV Entertainment Pass as part of Vodafone's Ultimate Entertainment Package.

Vodafone Smart Ultra 6: Specs and features

As we mentioned, the Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 is a rival to devices like the LG G4 and iPhone 6 Plus since it has a 5.5in Full HD screen. If you want a smaller phone without emptying your bank account, Vodafone also offers the Smart Prime 6.

That's not where the impressive specs end either, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor inside (as seen in the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua review), 13Mp rear camera and a 5Mp front camera. There's a 3000mAh non-removable battery, 16GB of internal storage and microSD cards slot for adding up to 128GB more.

Furthermore, the Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 runs on the latest version of Android 5.0 Lollipop. Those are some pretty impressive specs for a £125 phone and we've got our hands on one so we'll be bringing you a review very soon.
