Sony has unveiled the Xperia Go and Xperia acro S, two waterproof smartphones.
The two new additions to the Xperia line-up aim to cater for the increasing demand for durable, dust proof and water resistant smartphones. The phones are due to arrive in the third quarter with pricing yet to be confirmed. See also: Group test: What's the best smartphone?
Sony said the two are: "for consumers looking for premium specifications and beautiful design with extra durability and water resistance. Xperia go and Xperia acro S have scratch resistant mineral glass displays and meet industry standard International Protection ratings for protection against dust and water immersion."

Sony Xperia Go
The Xperia Go features a 3.5in display, 1GHz dual-core processor and a 5Mp rear facing camera. Sony said it has the highest level of dust and water resistance in a smartphone with its IP67 rating. It will launch in black, white or yellow with Android 2.3 Gingerbread but will be upgradeable to 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Sony Xperia acro S
The Xperia acro S has a similar specification to the Xperia S with a 4.3in 720p display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor and a 12Mp rear facing camera. It will come pre-loaded with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in a choice of black, white or pink colours.
Before you get too excited, the firm has said the Xperia Go is the only one launching in the UK at the moment – much to our disappointment.
