Palm Europe is launching the Palm Centro. It claims the smartphone is its smallest and lightest to date. The Palm Centro is set to debut in the UK towards the end of February.

According to Palm, the black onyx smartphone, which weighs just over 100g, features a full-colour touchscreen, full keyboard and email, web browsing and calendar capabilities making it ideal for managing a busy life.

The smartphone uses the Palm OS, features a 1.3Mp digital still and video camera alongside the ability to play music with PocketTunes, access to Google Maps, view create and edit Word and Excel and view PowerPoint and PDF documents.

"People want more functionality from their phones and Centro delivers all the vital communication and organisation needs without compromising on design," commented Roy Bedlow, vice president of Palm EMEA.

Users will also benefit from a Bluetooth 1.2 connection, 64MB of storage, support for a 4GB microSD card. The Centro will be available in the UK from the end of February and is expected to be priced at £199 inc VAT.
