02 has launched a Windows Mobile 6.0 smartphone it is calling the XDA Atmos. It has a slide-out Qwerty keyboard and comes armed to the teeth with connectivity options. These include 3G, GPRS, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, Edge and is a quad-band GSM handset.
The O2 XDA Atmos is clearly aimed at the business market and offers function over style. In common with BlackBerry devices, it sports push email while mobile versions of familiar Office applications are provided by Microsoft. Email and communications are delivered via Microsoft’s Exchange Server.

As well as meeting business users’ communications and contact management needs via the built-in Windows Mobile 6.0 software, Atmos owners will be able to Bluetooth information to colleagues and friends and to take snaps of them using the handset’s 2Mp camera.
A microSD card slot is included and this is able to accept up to 32GB high-capacity microSD memory cards. According to O2, the handset should play up to 12 hours’ worth of Windows Media Audio music or 7 hours of video between charges.
Ben Dowd, 02 UK’s business sales director, O2 UK, says ”The O2 Xda is ideal for business users who require the familiarity of Windows on the move in a sleek and powerful device.”
The O2 XDA Atmos will be available via the 02 business shop on a range of tariffs.
