LG G3 hands-on preview: Just look at that Quad HD screen

LG has launched its latest flagship smartphone in the form of the G3 and we've managed to get our hands on one so watch our LG G3 preview video. See also: LG G3 hands-on review.

Samsung, Apple, Sony, HTC and other smartphone makers should be quaking in their boots because the LG G3 comes with a Quad HD screen. It's the first smartphone to feature one and you can see the 1440 x 2560 resolution in action in our video.

Full HD is now officially out of date on smartphones with the G3's whopping pixel density of 534ppi, the highest we've ever seen on a mobile device. We'll have to see what LG's rivals come up with later this year.

The screen is a large 5.5in but once again LG has done an amazing job of keeping the device as small as possible. For example, it's not as tall as the 5.2in wielding Sony Xperia Z2.

Other key features of the LG G3 include its metal finish which isn't like the HTC One M8's. Instead, the plastic removable rear cover has a metallic skin which a brushed finish. It's not particularly nice on the white model we've got but we like it on the other colours.

That cover also adds wireless charging to the device which is something still quite rare for a smartphone these days. See also: 27 best smartphones: The best phone you can buy in 2014.

The camera resolution stays the same when compared to the older LG G2 at 13Mp but there's new features here including 4K video recording, a dual-tone flash and a laser auto focus.

Android 4.4 KitKat is onboard and you can check out LG's overhaul graphical user interface in the video.
