Motorola will this evening launch the Moto X smartphone at an event in New York. Here's where you can find out how to follow the Moto X launch live.

Motorola's Moto X event starts tonight at 8pm UK time. The Moto X is a crucial product for Motorola - a flagship Android smartphone aimed at taking the fight back to more succesful brands such as Samsung, Apple and HTC. Unusually the Moto X launch will be closed to the public, with no live stream. Instead Motorola will live tweet details and images as the Moto X is launched.

Motorola Mobility was purchased by Google in 2011 for the sum of $12.5 billion. Now the newly named 'Motorola - a Google company' is looking to the Moto X revive its mobile fortunes. The Moto X will be the first phone launched by Google and Motorola after the purchase, despite Google launching multiple 'Nexus' products with third-party manufacturers such as Samsung, LG and Asus.

Moto X: specifications

We expect the Moto X to run Android Jelly Bean 4.3 and feature a 4.5 inch HD 720p display with 720x1184 resolution, giving it a pixel density of 307ppi. Expect a dual-core 1.7 GHz Qualcomm S4 Pro Processor with Adreno 320 GPU, 2GB RAM and 16GB storage.

Rumours suggest that the Moto X will be available in multiple colours, and even multiple materials. We understand the Moto X will be encased in Gorilla Glass, moulded into a shape that wraps around the screen. you'll get a 10Mp Clear Pixel rear camera with HDR mode, 2.1Mp front-facing camera, and a sizeable 2200mAh battery.
