Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3

The 6.3in Samsung Galaxy Mega is to launch in the UK in July, according to Clove. The Galaxy Mega is a smartphone and tablet hybrid that will cost £459.99 inc VAT. The news confirms what we expected - that the UK will get the Galaxy Mega 6.3 and not its sister product the Galaxy Mega 5.8.

The Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 runs Android 4.2 and has an LCD HD screen. The Mega 6.3 will have a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor, and is expected to support LTE and HSPA+ networks. It will have two cameras with 8 megapixels in the rear and 1.9 megapixels in the front.

The Galaxy Mega 6.3 has a 3,200 mAh battery and can come with either 8 GB or 16 GB of internal storage. You can add a microSD card up to 64GB.

Set to be available in both Black and White, the Mega will be priced at £383.33 excluding VAT or £459.99 including VAT. Clove expects to have first stock of the I9205 16GB model in July. The exact date is still to be confirmed.

Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3Attempting to define the 'phablet' size, Samsung said the Galaxy Mega is: "a device that combines the portability and convenience of a smartphone with the power, multitasking capabilities and extensive viewing experience of a tablet"

"We are aware of a great potential in the bigger screen for extensive viewing multimedia, web browsing, and more," said JK Shin, CEO of Samsung. "We are excited to provide another choice to meet our consumers’ varying lifestyles, all while maintaining the high-quality features of the award-winning GALAXY series."

Despite being bigger than the Galaxy Note 2, the Galaxy Mega does not come with Samsung's S Pen stylus but does have software like S Memo and S Planner.
