LG Optimus G Pro to come to UK this summer?

5.5in smartphone has 13Mp camera, runs Jelly Bean

LG Optimus G Nexus

LG has announced the LG Optimus G Pro at MWC. The LG Optimus G Pro is a smartphone with a 5.5-inch, 6:9 aspect ratio, full HD IPS screen. That touchscreen display has a 1,920x1,080-pixel resolution, giving it a detail level of 440 pixels per inch - this puts it in the higher echelons of touchscreen resolution.

This Android phone's performance is taken care of with a Qualcomm quad-core processor running at 1.7GHz, combined with 2GB of RAM. This is combined with up to 32GB of expandable memory via a microSD card. The LG Optimus Pro runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. A removable 3,140mAh battery should offer decent battery life, even despite that powerful display. NFC and wireless charging are included, although the latter requires an additional purchase.

The Otpimus Pro sports a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera capable of recording 1080p full HD video. A front-facing 2.1 megapixel camera sits on the front. The LG can record video on both cameras at the same time.

The LG Optimus Pro includes LG's QSlide multitasking feature, alongside other LG tools such as QuickMemo and Live Zooming. Nothing is confirmed but we expect the Optimus G Pro will be released in the UK in the second quarter of 2013.

LG smartphones at MWC

This week at the MWC show in Barcelona PC Advisor editors have been trying out multiple LG phones. Our editors liked the LG Optimus L7 2 - saying that on the whole it's a well-built, stylish smartphone that has some interesting/unique features. However, these plus points are marred by some of the phone's low specs.

The LG Optimus L5 2 and Optimus L3 2 both got tentative thumbs up, too. Neither the Optimus L5 2 nor Optimus L3 2 are particularly exciting smartphones but they're not competing the Nexus 4, Galaxy S3 and similar devices. With these handsets LG aims to offer a decent smartphone for those on a budget.
