Padfone 2 is latest Android phablet
The Padfone 2 is an innovative way of combining a smartphone and tablet together which some call a 'phablet'. Asus said the release date for successor to the original Padfone will be confirmed in the near future.
UK pricing is still to be confirmed but Asus said the Padfone 2 will cost €799 for the 32GB model and €899 for 64GB.
The smartphone part of the Padfone 2 has a 4.7in screen with a 720p resolution, a Qualcomm 1.5GHz quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM. It also boasts a 13Mp camera, NFC, 4G connectivity and a choice of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models. Asus also includes 50GB of cloud storage.

The docking station has slot in the back to place the smartphone, this time without the fiddly cover. More importantly, it has a 10.1in IPS screen with a 1280 x 800 resolution turning the phone into a tablet plus its own battery.
In total the device weighs 649g, 40 percent less than the original Padfone. Asus quotes 13 hours of battery life when browsing the web over Wi-Fi. When you factor in the battery in the station battery life is tripled, according to Asus.
