ZTE launches budget Kis Android smartphone

ZTE Kis smartphone offers Android 2.3 Gingerbread for under £50

ZTE has teamed up with Virgin Media to launch its entry-level Kis smartphone.

The Kis runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and is available from Virgin Media for just £49 on a pay-as-you-go basis. ZTE's budget handset offers a similar spec to the freshly announced Motosmart from Motorola at half the price.

Wu Sa, director of mobile device operations at ZTE said: "The launch of the ZTE Kis is a further demonstration of our commitment to building the ZTE brand in Europe and the UK across a number of price points and operating systems, which will continue with new devices throughout the remainder of 2012 and in 2013."

The Kis comes with a 3.5in touchscreen with a resolution of 320 x 480 and an 800MHz processor. It has a 3.2Mp camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 512MB of internal storage.

Despite the measly storage capacity and bargain price the Kis comes with a 2GB microSD card.
