HTC Sensation XL offers Beats Audio integration

4.7in Android phone with WVGA touchscreen

HTC today unveiled the HTC Sensation XL, a Google Android smartphone with a 4.7in touch LCD screen with WVGA that boasts Beats Audio integration. The screen is made of toughened Gorilla Glass.

The HTC Sensation XL is the product of a partnership between HTC and Beats, offering what the manufacturers describe as a 'specifically optimised audio experience'. The Sensation XL joins the HTC Sensation XE in HTC's lineup of smartphones with Beats Audio, the Dr Dre-inspired audio technology that graces HP's latest range of consumer laptops.

The Sensation XL has a slim 9.9mm design and comes with exclusive, lightweight urBeats headphones. The headphones have a built-in microphone and on-cable remote control.

With a Qualcomm MSM 8255 processor running at 1.5GHz, the HTC Sensation XL boasts 16GB internal storage, and 768MB RAM. According to HTC it measures 132.5x70.7x9.9mm, and weighs 162g. Connectivity options are HSPA/WCDMA (850/900/2100 MHz), and GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz).
As well as allocating audio alerts to friends and family via the contacts book, HTC Sensation XL users can send music recommendations to friends over SMS, email or via Facebook.

The HTC Sensation XL integrates HTC Watch, which HTC describes as 'an application and service that puts an entire library of the latest premium movies and TV shows right at your fingertips'. The device has an 8MP camera, featuring a f/2.2, 28mm wide-angle lens. It also has a video mode that captures up to 720p footage. You'll be able to get hold of the Sensation XL from early November.

"With Beats Audio, the HTC Sensation XL continues HTC’s commitment of delivering the best audio possible on your phone whether you’re listening to music, watching a movie or playing a game,” said Peter Chou, CEO, HTC Corporation.

"This is an amazing example of why our partnership with Beats makes so much sense for customers today and into the future."

"HTC is an incredible partner and has completely embraced our desire to make the music experience on the mobile phone as powerful and as rich as it can be,” said Jimmy Iovine, Chairman of Beats by Dr. Dre.
