HTC Sensation gets Vodafone debut

UK smartphone fans have only two-week wait

Vodafone has announced that it will be selling the HTC Sensation Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone from 19 May. It is available for preorder on Vodafone from today.

The HTC Sensation is a 4.3in screen 8Mp Android cameraphone running off a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. It also has a 1.2Mp front-facing camera for use with video calls. There’s 1GB of onboard RAM and an 8GB microSD card for additional storage included in the box. The handset sports both Wi-Fi and 3G and is offered on a £35-a-month two-year Vodafone contract with 600 minutes of calls, 750MB of data and unlimited text messaging.

Those with an eye on a cheaper monthly subscription can pick up the HTC Sensation for £199 and a £25 monthly fee with a reduced 500MB data allowance and 100 minutes of calls. A £30 monthly contract ups the calltime to 500 minutes while the handset costs £99.

The HTC Sensation is the most powerful handset in the smartphone specialist's line-up of Android devices. It goes head to head with the Motorola Atrix, onsale from today and being touted by its maker as "the world's most powerful smartphone".

Last month HTC started selling its first Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone, the Incredible S.
