Toshiba TG01 smartphone

Toshiba has launched what it claims is the world's first phone to run using Qualcomm's Snapdragon 1GHz processor. The TG01 will be available in black or white and will be a Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone.

The TG01 will be a 1cm thick and have a 4.1in-wide 800x480-pixel touchscreen. Running Windows Mobile 6.1 the smartphone will offer web browsing and allow users to send and receive emails using Microsoft Office Outlook Mobile as well as playing video and audio files.

Toshiba has yet to divulge how much onboard memory the device will have, but has said the TG01 will accept flash memory cards of up to 32GB. Toshiba is also citing the handset's "ultra-low" power consumption and ability to accept an incoming call or switch applications by tilting the device left or right or shaking it.

The TG01 also features Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity as well as built-in GPS that can be used for personal navigation.
