Toshiba has announced a revamp of its line of notebooks. There are three main model types, based on screen size and named R830 for 13in screen, R840 for 14in and R850 for 15in models.
The range is further divided depending on intended user: starting at the bottom is the Satellite range for general consumers; the Satellite Pro and Tecta iterations are specified slightly higher for business users. The top versions of the R-Series are branded as Portégé.
The Toshiba Portégé R830 is billed as the ultimate business laptop, a 13.3in screen model based on a honeycomb structure chassis of magnesium alloy. It relies on a 500GB hard disk with up to 8GB of DDR3-1333 memory. Connectivity include 802.11n and Bluetooth 3.0 wireless, and USB 3.0 port as well as eSATA and USB 2.0.
Toshiba is coy about processor options, mentioning only the ‘latest Intel CPUs’, although we expect to see some version of second-generation Core-series processor, also known as Sandy Bridge. No prices are available, and availability is ‘second quarter of 2011’.
The rest of the revised R-Series line is similarly specified and with the same release schedule.
