Sony has unveiled its Vaio E Series 14 laptops which come with a design refresh.
The range comes in black, pink and white in a 'wrap-around' design which sees "complementary colour flourishes around the laptop's edge, lid, touchpad and keyboard." The laptop also offers motion gesture control via its built-in webcam.
This Xbox Kinect-like feature will allow users to do tasks like flick through photos, control media and scroll through web pages. It works in conjunction with software such as Windows Media Player, Internet Explorer 9 and PowerPoint.
On the hardware front, the range boasts an Intel Core i3 processor, AMD Radeon HD 7670M graphics card, 4GB of RAM and a 14in screen with a resolution of 1366 x 768.
Sony has included a wide range of connectivity consisting of 802.11b/g/n wireless, Bluetooth 4.0, two USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 ports, HDMI out and VGA out.
Good sound quality is a feature of the laptop, according to Sony. xLOUD and Clear Phase technologies apparently boost volume levels without distortion and there's also Dolby Home Theatre V4 for cinema-style audio.
The Vaio E Series 14 is a little heavy at 2.3kg but you do get a built-in DVD drive and up to seven hours of battery life. Sony said the price will start at around £649.
