Acer's C7 Chromebook laptop has gone on sale for £199.

The laptop maker has launched its sub £200 Chromebook on Google's Play Store, Amazon, PC World and Currys. Acer said the laptop delivers 'enhanced security, quicker online access and an easy-to-use interface' at an affordable price. See Group test: what's the best budget laptop?

Sundar Pichai, senior vice president of Chrome and apps at Google, said: "We’re excited about the Acer C7 Chromebook, the newest addition to the Chromebook family.  The Acer C7 delivers a hassle-free computing experience with the speed, security and simplicity that users expect of Chromebooks built in."

Specifications include an 11.6in screen, an Intel processor, 2GB of RAM, three USB 3.0 ports and an HDMI port. As well as a 320GB hard drive, the Google Play Store is touting 100GB of Google Drive cloud storage for two years.

The Acer C7 Chromebook runs Google's Chrome OS and undercuts Samsung's latest Chromebook which sells for £229.
