Samsung has announced its new range of Series 5 notebooks with Intel Ivy Bridge processors.
Updates line-up with Intel Ivy Bridge processors
The Series 5 550P notebooks will be available in 15-inch and 17-inch models powered by Intel’s third generation Ivy Bridge processors. Samsung said they will be on sale this month from retailers including PC World and Currys.
Damian Cusick, general manager of computing at Samsung said: "With its fully integrated multimedia features and lightweight slim design the Samsung Series 5 550P notebook offers an unsurpassed ‘look, listen and feel’ experience that no other notebook will match."
Samsung touts a performance boost of 25 percent with Ivy Bridge while consuming 20 percent less power compared to second generation Sandy Bridge chips. The only processor to be confirmed so far is the Core i7-3610QM for the 17.3-inch NP550P7C-S02UK.
The Series 5 line-up will have 8GB of RAM and Windows 7 Home Premium as standard. Two models come with an Nvidia GeForce GT650M 2GB graphics card.
A DVD-RW optical drive comes with the 15-inch models while the 17-inch option has a Blu-ray drive. Samsung said the laptops will have up to 2TB of storage. For more detailed specifications see the table below.

Joshua said: Having worked with these computers since the series 5 came out I woulddefinitelyrecommend it After comparing with other laptops with similar specification it is by far best for value and moreover the Matte screen whilst I agree can be somewhat pale it is very handy when using outside or in a house at which your desk is opposite to a window like myself If you are looking for a PC at that spec with value in mind and are a keen gamer it is ideal
dr230 said: The screen is pretty poor I noticed the serious lack of contrast as soon as I switched it on Ive now upgraded the screen for the full HD screen that is available for this model from certain laptop-screen suppliers it now has superb contrast levels that put the old 1600x900 display to shame
Devans said: Really concerned thatthescreen is poor with a low contrast ratio so wont be buying - wish they would PUBLISH proper specs so That I could be 100 sure
