Acer has unveiled the Aspire 1820p - a ultra-slim tablet PC. The £529 Aspire 1820p has a touchscreen that can be rotated from its usual upright position to lie flat on itself and be used as a digital slate.

The 11.6in laptop runs Windows 7 Home Premium, has a 1366x768-pixel high-definition widescreen display and comes with a stylus for more accurate touchscreen input.

Acer says the fold-down screen the laptop to be used as a digital photo frame, a presenting tool or even a notepad.

Available in three colours; Sapphire Blue, Diamond Black and Ruby Red, the Acer Aspire is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 processor and a Mobile Intel GS45 Express chipset with integrated 3D graphics.

It has 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard disk drive, Wi-Fi and an HDMI port. This allows content stored on the laptop to be viewed on other high definition displays.

The Aspire 1820p measures 285x209x35mm and weighs 1.7kg. It should run for up to eight hours between battery charges. A four-in-one card reader is part of the standard specification, with Bluetooth and 3G connectivity offered as upgrade options.

The Acer Aspire 1820P costs £529.99 and is available direct from Acer immediately.
