Samsung R720 multimedia laptop

Samsung has unveiled the R720 - a fully-laden multimedia laptop that offers high-definition graphics, Blu-ray movie playback and an enhanced 3D sound setup.

The 17.3in multimedia laptop has a 16:9 aspect ratio display and is powered by Intel's Centrino 2 processor and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD4650 graphics chip. Blu-Ray entertainment is bolstered with the inclusion of the R720's integrated 4 Watt stereo speakers

Samsung also says the device has a larger keyboard for enhanced usability and it is coasted with an anti-bacterial finish that makes it "almost impossible for bacteria to live and breed".

The laptop will come with four USB 2.0 ports, one of which emits power even when the laptop is turned off so users can charge mobile phones and MP3 players.

"With its advanced graphics and HD optimised 17.3in widescreen display and enhanced sound capabilities it's a great choice for value-seekers who also appreciate the best in style and multimedia entertainment," said Phil Brown, general manager of the Samsung's UK laptop division.

Available from July, the Samsung R720 is priced from £599.
