Toshiba Satellite multi-touch laptop range

Toshiba has unveiled four new models in its Satellite laptop range, two of which feature a multi-touch control pad.

The control pad is similar to those on Apple's MacBook Pro laptops, and allows users to pinch and swipe the pad to activate commands on the machine.

The multi-touch control pad is available on the Satellite A500, a 16in model with a TruBrite 1,366x768-pixel display and an integrated HD webcam. the A500 also has built-in Harman Kardon stereo speakers. The multi-touch capability also features on the ultraportable Toshiba Satellite U500 laptop that has a Macbook Air-aping 13.3in display with a resolution of 1,280x800.

Also available in the Satellite range is the 15.6in L500 and the 17.3 in L550. Both feature TruBrite LED backlit displays, and a choice of silver or black keyboards to complement the steel grey cover. A four-button multimedia bar offers one-touch access to music and video playback functions.

All four machines also come with Toshiba's Eco Utility Management System which allows consumers to monitor their power consumption when using the laptops.

The Toshiba Satellite range will be available in the UK in July. Further spec and pricing details will be released later.
