Asus is bringing its exceptionally low-cost ultaportable Eee PC P7012 laptop to the UK.
The Asus Eee PC P701 will launch on 5 November and will carry a price tag of £219 including VAT. When it went on sale in Asus' native Taiwan last week, the Eee PC all-but sold out on its very first day.
The Eee PC is a Linux-based ultraportable laptop that weighs only 920g and is aimed at students and schoolchildren.
The Eee PC that is to launch in the UK early next month will be known by the model name P701. The low cost machine is particularly well suited to kids and has a 7in widescreen display. Featuring an Intel CPU and chipset it runs Linux, but is also Windows XP compatible.
The Asus boasts 512MB RAM memory, 4GB hard drive storage capacity and built-in card reader, camera, speakers and microphone. The notebook is solid state and therefore contains no moving parts and comes with built-in wi-fi compatibility and software pre-installed.
The Eee PC will be available 5 November priced at £219 inc VAT.
