From the makers of Remember Me and Life is Strange, Dontnod Entertainment has announced an action role-playing video game named Vampyr. The game is based on the 1918 London Spanish flu pandemic, which resulted in one of the world's deadliest human disasters and cost 50-100 million lives (at the time three to five percent of the world's population). Vampyr gameplay: What can we expect from Vampyr?
Want to be a vampire doctor? Who doesn't! You play the game's protagonist Jonathan Reid, and the actions you take within the game will ultimately decide how the game evolves.
Vampyr based in London in a semi-open world setting, allowing you to roam the streets and apartments to find your next target. As Le Vampire Docteur, your goal is to improve your combat skills, charm, and level up your character to progress through the game.
You will be able to craft your own weapons, which brings a plethora of crafty ways to kill or defend yourself from attackers. Read next: Latest game news and features.
From what we can see so far, the game will have a dark setting (mainly because you're a vampire, and we all know they dislike light!) and looks to promote sneaky-beaky-like movements. We see it as a cross-breed between Assassin's Creed and Dishonored, which sounds fantastically exhilarating on paper.
There are no official gameplay videos yet, but Vampyr appears to have a slight Borderlands look to it (at least from the teaser video and images). Given that these are only concepts, we might see a drastic change in the final release.
Vampyr release date rumours UK
The game was first announced in 2015, with the teaser video coming out in 2016. We expect Vampyre to be released in 2017 provided production stays on schedule.
Vampyr price, pre-order and platforms
The price is still to be confirmed, and you aren't yet able to pre-order Vampyr through the website. We expect the game to be released on all major gaming platforms: PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Read next: Best games consoles 2016.
It will be interesting to see whether the game will be fully optimised for PC or a console-port (in which graphical abilities and framerates are capped).
Vampyr official teaser video
The official teaser video looks fantastic and the plot behind the game is enticing. We're looking forward to more teasers in the coming year and potentially some real-world gameplay videos.
If there's any new information about the game, we will be sure to update this article - so stay tuned!
