A lot of new games were announced at Sony's E3 PlayStation conference, including Days Gone and God of War. Another is the brand new Spider-Man title for the PS4. Precious little is known about the new game, but we can glean a few details from the first-look trailer above.

Spider-Man PS4 is of course a working title for the game, which means that development is in the early stages. There was barely any mention of a story or game play during the brief announcement, let alone any hint of a potential release date. It will be a PS4 exclusive.

On the PlayStation blog, Insomniac's Creative Director Bryan Intihar says that Marvel and Insomniac working together "feels like a match made in heaven" and that Spider-Man is the first game in the studio's 22-year history that's not based on IP which originated in-house. The game has potential - after all, this is the developer behind Ratchet & Clank and Sunset Overdrive.

What we do know is that the story will focus on the intersections between Peter Parker and Spidey's lives, since Intihar said of a meeting with Marvel that, "he [Bill Rosemann] goes 'the best stories are when Peter's world and Spider-Man's world collide', and we have taken that and just, throughout every day of this development, we have been like are we hitting that?"

Also, we know that the game won't be based on the upcoming Spider-Man film, and that it will feature a more experienced Spidey rather than a young Peter Parker. We're promised that it won't just be swinging through the streets of New York. Intihar says "...we also want to introduce new elements that players have never experienced with Spider-Man, ranging from traversing with parkour and utilizing the environment, to new combat and blockbuster set-pieces."

As we hear more, we'll update this article.
