Shenmue 3 release date

With the Kickstarter reaching its $2m target extremely quickly (in just 9 hours), the game is now in development and the page estimates arrival in December 2017 which is quite the wait. With a release date so far in the future it could well change although we hope it doesn't get delayed to 2018.

The development team at Ys Net say the Shenmue 3 release date is 'within reach' but warns that it could move.

"A rigorous budget and schedule has been worked out with our production team and we believe our target of 2017 holiday season is within reach. That said, our goal is to make the best game possible (and one that the fans want!) so please understand the schedule may change as the project evolves. Frequent updates will be posted on the Update page," said the firm.

The Kickstarter has been so successful that it's now in the top 10 of the most funded campaigns. On 14 July it was at $4.79 million. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, the current leader for video games with a whopping $5.5 million.
