Prey UK release date: When is Prey being released in the UK?

Prey UK release date: 5 May 2017

Considering the original Prey announcement was made five years ago, fans of the series have been waiting for a while - although as you’ll find out below, this isn’t the Prey that was announced all those years ago. Instead, it has been reimagined by an entirely new studio and will now offer a near-future Sci-fi FPS. Anyway, we digress - when is it coming out?

There was no mention of a release date in the Bethesda E3 2016 press conference where the game was announced, only a date of 2017 at the end of the announcement trailer and on the Steam listing, which appeared after the event.

We now know the release date will be 5 May 2017.

Prey platforms: Which platforms will Prey be available on?

Where to pre-order Prey

Prey is now available to pre-order from the usual suspects. Over at Amazon it costs £48 on PS4 and Xbox One, or £49.99 for PC. GAME is charging £49.99 for both PC and Xbox One.

Prey gameplay rumours: What can we expect from Prey?

So, what can we expect from the cancelled-then-revived Prey? Well as mentioned above, the game has completely changed from the one introduced to us five years ago by Human Head, with the game development now being handled by Arkane Studios. We’re looking at a Sci-fi first person shooter where you’re aboard a space station in 2032 working on an experiment meant to change the course of human evolution. Dramatic. But, as these things go, the station has been overrun by aliens and well, that’s not good news for you.

Beyond that, we’re not quite sure what to expect from Prey. The Steam Store page for Prey went online shortly after the press conference, confirming the 2017 release date and giving us a bit more of an insight of what to expect from Prey:

“In Prey, you awaken aboard Talos I, a space station orbiting the moon in the year 2032. You are the key subject of an experiment meant to alter humanity forever—but things have gone terribly wrong. The space station has been overrun by hostile aliens and you are now being hunted. As you dig into the dark secrets of Talos I and your own past, you must survive using the tools found on the station, your wits, weapons, and mind-bending abilities.”

Fighting hostile aliens using wits, weapons and mind-bending abilities? We’re sold.

Fast forward to December 2016 and brand new Prey gameplay was showcased for the first time at The Game Awards, and was welcomed by huge cheers by the crowd. It's short, at just over two-minutes, but is enough to get players excited about the upcoming game.

For those wanting to see more about what Prey has to offer, look no further than the below gameplay walkthrough. It's a longer version of the above trailer, showcasing the various in-game mechanics in action, as well as a taste of what to expect in terms of graphics.

Make sure you head back soon, as we’ll update this section as soon as more details are announced.
