Chumby has launched an updated version of its original portable Wi-Fi web-access device to the US market. The Chumby One eschews the cuddly, consumer-friendy design of the original Chumby - now known as the Chumby Classic - in favour of more angular lines.
In the UK, the original Chumby is now onsale via gadget site Firebox. As with the PURE Sensia touchscreen DAB/internet radio, the Chumby allows users to view their favourite websites and social media sites over Wi-Fi.
The Chumby One measures 150x100x80mm and features a 3.5in touchscreen. It automatically connects to a Wi-Fi network when switched on.
Then using the gadget, visit Chumby's website and download as many of the 1,5000 widgets available that deliver content from websites straight to the Chumby. Widgets are available for everything from social networks such as Facebook and Twitter to eBay and Flickr.
The Chumby Classic has an accelerometer so users can play tilt-responsive games on the device, and it can even be utilised as an alarm click. It has two USB ports and a 2 Watt speaker.
Available in blue, black, pearl or 'latte ' £139.99 at Firebox.
