Belkin TuneCast GPS Auto Live

Belkin TuneCast GPS Auto Live AutoBelkin has updated its in-car FM transmitters to automatically find the strongest frequency on which to broadcast music stored on an iPod.

The TuneCast Live Auto is the first device to use the GPS (global positioning satellite) receiver in the Apple iPhone to scan the airwaves and seek out the clearest FM frequency in the vicinity. Data is based on geographical information and feedback from other TuneCast users within range.

A PRO setting on the Belkin device will optimise the audio and stabilise the volume.

Designed for use with the iPhone and iPod Touch-compatible Belkin TuneCast FM receivers, the ClearScan Live software can be used to set and save station presets on the iPhone handset as well as saving the handset owner from having to manually cycle through the radio dial to find a clear signal.

Belkin explains that the TuneCast Auto Live "capitalises on the ability of iPhone OS 3.0 to enable application control of hardware accessories, with ClearScan Live as the first application to interact with an iPhone FM transmitter accessory".

The iPhone 3.0 software was officially unveiled at the WWDC (World Wide Developers' Conference) in San Francisco today and will be available for all iPhone 3GS owners to download from Wednesday 17 June.

A new version of the iPhone will go onsale in the UK, US, Germany, Switzerland and elsewhere from 19 June.

Pricing of the Belkin TuneCast Auto Live for the UK has yet to be announced.
