Hyundai UK to launch mobile phone watch

Hyundai has announced that it is to launch a mobile phone watch in the UK, as a result of the interest in a prototype device it exhibited at last month's Mobile World Congress trade show.

The triband Hyundai Mobile MB-910 phone watch can be used with a Bluetooth connection. Alternatively, the user can speak directly into the watch, which has a small integrated microphone.

The watch supports the GPRS (general packet radio service), has a 64,000 colour display and 64 polyphonic ringtones.

Weighing just 58g, the silver watch is designed to be discreet and stylish rather than flashy. It has a talk-time of around 3 hours - that's an awful lot of fevered stage-whispering into your sleeve - and a standby time of approximately 70 hours.

Hyundai Mobile's product manager described the gadget as "the perfect marriage between cool functionality and classic looks".

The Hyundai watch-phone will go onsale during Q2, but pricing has yet to be confirmed.

The phone-watch hybrid is already onsale elsewhere in Europe.
