Black & Decker Portable Power laptop charger

Black & Decker may be best known for its handyman tools and workbenches, but since last year it has also sold Automotive accessories.

The tool company has just launched its 2009 Automotive range and now offers a £34.99 Portable Power pack that can recharge laptops, digital camera and mobile phones.

The 100 Watt Portable Power Inverter has a USB port to which you attach your USB-compatible device. The other end of the unit plugs in to the vehicle's cigarette lighter via which it produces a 12 volt charge.

The BDPC100A charger also works with a standard plug and converts the car battery to a conventional 230 volt charge - the same as you get from a household mains power supply.

As well as drivers and business travellers, Black & Decker is promoting the BDPC100A Portable Power charger as ideal for caravan owners with multiple gadgets that need charging.

The £34.99 device is available from Argos.
