Intempo claims world first with portable net radio

Intempo will start selling what it claims is the world's first portable internet radio in the UK in April.

The product, codenamed Daisy, includes two low-power chips from UK chipmaker Cambridge Silicon Radio (CSR). Intempo claims this choice of components enables the device to run for 20 hours of continuous music streaming from a single battery charge.

As well as allowing you to listen to internet radio stations when in reach of a Wi-Fi connection, the Daisy supports FM radio, thanks to technology from DAB radio specialist Radioscape.

The product will cost £150 in the UK.
